Work out the GST on any amount and see how it splits into CGST and SGST, or IGST for a supply to another state. No sign-up needed.
- Amount before GST
- ₹10,000.00
- CGST (9%)
- ₹900.00
- SGST (9%)
- ₹900.00
- Total GST
- ₹1,800.00
- Amount including GST
- ₹11,800.00
GST = amount × 18 ÷ 100
Amounts are rounded to the nearest paisa. On an invoice, tax is worked out line by line, so totals can differ slightly from a single calculation on the grand total.
How the calculation works
Adding GST: GST = price before tax × rate ÷ 100, and the total is the price plus that GST.
Removing GST: price before tax = inclusive amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate), and the GST is the difference.
Splitting it: for a supply within the same state, half the GST is CGST and half is SGST (or UTGST in a union territory). For a supply to another state, the full amount is IGST. Read which one applies for the place-of-supply rules.

Frequently Asked Questions
Multiply the price before tax by the GST rate and divide by 100. That is the GST amount; add it to the price to get the total. At 18%, a price of 1,000 has GST of 180 and a total of 1,180.
